Walking Again, Thanks to Grace
I’m thrilled to share that I’m finally walking again! It’s not perfect, but being back on my own two feet after my leg was crushed by a car feels like a miracle. When I’m feeling low, I remind myself how far I’ve come. Recently, I learned I’ll need surgery, which is tough since I’ve already used up my 12 weeks of FMLA. But I’m trusting God’s plan and staying grateful for every step forward.
A Spontaneous Family Adventure
With Cesar heading out for military duty this past weekend, we decided to turn it into a family getaway! On a whim, we booked a very last minute deal at Great Wolf Lodge, and let me tell you it was an absolute treat! This place felt like a mini Walt Disney World, packed with fun for our little boys, Cesar and Giovanni. They played hard and loved every second of it!
Endless Fun for the Kids
The boys had a blast at Great Wolf Lodge’s activities. They rolled balls at the kid friendly bowling alley (not quite getting the rules but loving it anyway!) and spent hours in the arcade, racking up tickets for prizes. Cesar picked out three Lego cars, while Giovanni chose a big ball (his favorite), an airplane, and a piece of candy. We skipped the wand activity, unsure if it suited their ages, but the water park was a huge hit! Cesar couldn’t get enough of the lazy river, and Giovanni loved it too, though after three loops, he was ready to snuggle with Momma or Papa. Our friends Gwen and Anita joined us, taking the boys on the bigger slides, which they thought was the coolest thing ever! Their help made it manageable for me, and I’m so grateful for such good friends.
Cozy and Kid-Friendly Rooms
Our room was adorable! Cesar and I had a comfy queen bed, though the AC unit blowing directly on us wasn’t my favorite. The boys’ room, however, stole the show two bunk beds and a twin bed, complete with their own TV playing Paw Patrol and Go Danny Go. To my surprise, they slept in separate beds like big boys!
Delicious Dining Options
The food was fantastic! I enjoyed a grilled chicken sandwich the first night, pizza for lunch the next day, and an incredible antipasto salad the next night I’m still craving it! The boys were thrilled when we arrived to find a birthday banner on our door, balloons everywhere, and a massive sheet cake in the room. Before Cesar and I could unload, they dove into the cake with their hands, leaving us with just crumbs. Trust me, those crumbs were just as delicious!
Activities Galore
Great Wolf Lodge kept the boys entertained with tons of activities. They crafted bracelets, decorated wolf ears (a sweet staff member gifted us some after we missed them at check-in), danced at the dance party, met special characters, and even tried kid yoga. They loved the ice cream and browsing the gift shop, which had everything you might need. This place truly has it all!
Tips for Your Visit
We highly recommend Great Wolf Lodge for a family getaway! Go for the full experience package, it’s worth it, as you’ll likely end up buying extras anyway. Bring water shoes, pack snacks to save on food costs, and check if your room has a microwave (we wished we’d asked for one). Pro tip: use Chase credit card points to book and save cash! We didn’t try the sit-down restaurant this time, but it’s on our list for next time, depending on how the boys handle it.
A Much-Needed Escape
