Can you believe it? In just a few months, my husband, Cesar, and I will celebrate a decade of marriage! Time has slipped through our fingers like sand, and it feels like we were just saying “I do” yesterday. The whirlwind of these years has been nothing short of extraordinary, and my heart is overflowing with gratitude that I truly found THE ONE.

Enchanted by Anniversaries

As a little girl, I was enchanted by the idea of anniversaries. I’d pick bright red roses from the garden for my mom, craft heartfelt cards, and decorate the house in streamers to celebrate my parents love for one another. My dad and I would run through the house always singing “Happy Anniversary Happy Anniversary Happy Anniversary….HAPPY ANNIVERSARY”. It was the greatest day EVER! My imagination danced with dreams of Disney princesses and finding my own Prince Charming… one day. Little did I know, I’d find a love that surpasses even those fairy tales!! Cesar. WOW, did he sweep me off of my feet!

As a military spouse, I’ve witnessed countless relationships, each unique in its own way. But what Cesar and I share is something extremely rare, a bond so profound it feels like winning the lottery of love. In a world where relationships, especially in the military life, can falter under pressure, our connection has only grown stronger. We’ve seen heartbreak all around us, and it’s a sobering reminder of how precious our love is for one another.

Embracing the Chaos of Parenthood

Becoming parents to our two incredible boys has transformed our lives in ways we never imagined. The spontaneity of our usual last-minute adventures now requires a bit more planning, but every moment with our little ones is well worth it. Parenthood is challenging, no one can fully prepare you for it, but I wouldn’t trade our chaotic, joy filled life for absolutely anything.

Prioritizing Our Connection

Despite the demands of raising kids and balancing two full time careers, Cesar has always made date nights a top priority. Whether it’s sneaking away to our favorite local coffee shop for a warm drink and Bible study, strolling around Costco or simply catching up on life, those moments keep our connection alive. Prioritizing each other has been our lifeline, a reminder that love thrives when nurtured.

An Unbreakable Bond

Our bond is unbreakable. Deployments have forced us apart for too many nights, and even a single day without each other feels unbearable. Our friends tease us about our “separation anxiety,” but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Cesar’s company is my home, and I’d be in a sure loss without my sweet man by my side. Even when we’re apart, we’re always just a call away, connecting the moments whenever we can. People originally called it the “honeymoon phase,” but ten years in, that spark is still alive, burning bright and showing no sign of change. 

The Secret to Our Love

What’s the secret to our love? It starts with putting God first and aligning our hearts on the same path. We’re carbon copies of each other, always buzzing with excitement for what’s next. Our energy matches, our dreams intertwine, and together, we’re unstoppable.

Remembering Our Loved Ones

Revisiting our wedding video fills my heart with gratitude for capturing those precious moments. Seeing my daddy, my beloved BB, my grandmother, Grandpa Ray, and dear Aunt Dorothy, now in the arms of the Lord, brings such joy. Their smiles and love shine through, letting me cherish our special day together forever.

Funny Facts

#1 Our wedding day was unforgettable, even with the venue’s AC giving out—talk about a warm celebration! Our stunning cake, lovingly handcrafted by my talented friend Megan (isn’t her work incredible?), faced the heat, too. In the video, you’ll notice more flowers appearing on the cake in different scenes. That’s thanks to our quick-thinking wedding coordinator, who cleverly added blooms to keep it standing tall. You can even spot Prince Charming with icing on his face from a piece that didn’t make it! We ended up cutting the cake early in the evening, but it only added to the charm of our joyful day. We did get 50% of our money back for the failed AC units.

#2 As a lifelong Disney fan (my first real job) I always envisioned a magical ice sculpture of Belle’s enchanted rose at our wedding. I tirelessly called vendors for quotes, leaving voicemails with every detail, but heard nothing back. Then, on our wedding day, a miracle happened! Out of the blue, a vendor I’d contacted showed up with the most breathtaking ice sculpture, perfectly capturing the rose I’d dreamed of. I was absolutely stunned! To top it off, he offered a generous discount since he hadn’t confirmed earlier. It was a fairy-tale moment that made our day even more unforgettable. Thank goodness for Mrs. Doris King whom was quick thinking and found the perfect spot for it.
